The Autumn Statement was delivered to Parliament today by Chancellor George Osborne. It stated its commitment to energy-intensive manufacturing remaining competitive during the shift to a low carbon economy. Beginning in 2013 the Government therefore intends to benefit the most electricity-intensive industries by instigating methods to lower the impact of policy on their electricity costs. This will be worth around £250 million.
