CBI supports the re-design of the CRC energy efficiency scheme
24.09.2010
Dr Neil Bentley, CBI Director for Business Environment commented on the ‘common-sense’ recommendations made by the Committee on Climate Change for the Government to re-design the CRC.
He reported that ‘many firms’ were experiencing problems with complying with the scheme due to the process being ‘slow and arduous’. He believes that this is distracting organisations from the real goal – energy efficiency.
For example he supported the recommendation to not introduce the trading element from 2013. In addition, he felt that a ‘good start would be to guarantee that the league table accurately reflects and rewards best efforts to improve energy efficiency’
