With the deadline only 50 days away, the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) announced on Wednesday 11 August that 3,701 businesses are yet to register for the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme.
Those organisations that are required to participate in the Environment Agency scheme have been urged by Climate Change Minister, Greg Barker, to register now in order to start saving money.
He said; “The CRC would help organisations play a full role in contributing to the UK’s emissions reduction through improving energy efficiency.
“This new Coalition Government wants to boost energy efficiency in business because we know that saving energy saves money. The CRC will encourage significant savings through greater energy efficiency and importantly will make carbon a boardroom issue for many large organisations.
“My message to businesses today is to register now. I understand the original complexity of the scheme may have deterred some organisations and I want to hear suggestions as to how we can make the scheme simpler in the future.”
