ECCC report suggests Government will miss fuel poverty targets

30.03.2010

A recent report by the Energy and Climate Change Committee (ECCC), suggests that the government is set to miss fuel poverty targets. The government committed itself to two targets in England;

  • To seek an end to fuel poverty for vulnerable households by 2010; and
  • By 22 November 2016 no person in England should have to live in fuel poverty
According to the report the first target will be missed with the second is looking set to fail too. With the number of household in fuel poverty increasing, the targets are proving difficult to achieve given the current measures.
