Half of UK firms are considering renewable energy investment

A new survey has found a growing support for renewable energy technologies. 48 per cent of respondents either already use renewable energy through onsite generation or green energy tariffs or are considering using renewable energy. More importantly half of the respondents are using or planning to use energy efficiency measures to reduce their energy consumption.

Over two thirds of the high level executives polled from the financial sector predicted that investment in the renewable sector would increase over the next six months.

The largest stumbling block identified by senior executives was cost; highlighting this as the barrier to a quicker adoption of renewable energy technologies.

However the InvestinCornwall development agency, who commissioned the survey,  said that “overall the responses highlighted the extent to which low carbon industries had become part of the corporate mainstream.”
