‘Think again’ say the IPPR

In a forthcoming report, by the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) there is a call for some ‘bold new thinking’ as they argue that an urgent and independent review of the UK’s fuel poverty strategy should be commissioned by the Government.
The report, ‘Fuel Poverty, Where Next?’ suggests that due to the cold winter there is an urgent need for emergency measures to help people cope with the peaks of cold weather and reduce rising winter deaths for the future. Despite millions of pounds investment into fuel poverty programmes the energy industry has failed to address the problem adequately and people are struggling to pay heating bills.
