Oil price highest since September 2008

Brent crude for the February settlement gained 2% to $97.71/bl on the ICE Futures Europe exchange; the highest since 30 September 2008.

The rise was a result of Trans-Alaska Pipeline System operator Alyeska saying that repairs to a leak on the line will take at least five days.
