Shadow Energy Minister calls for shale gas policy

Shadow UK Energy Minister Huw Irranca-Davies has demanded that the UK government create a policy on shale gas.

There are reserves of shale gas under south Wales possibly worth millions of pounds but extracting it could be dangerous, and harmful to the environment.

Mr Irranca-Davies says he will put pressure on UK Energy Minister Charles Hendry to devise a safe way of gathering the gas for energy use.
