Figures from the Co-operative Bank’s annual Ethical Consumerism Report, suggest that UK households now spend more than £250 a year on environmentally friendly products.
Low-energy light bulbs and energy efficient appliances are slowly entering households around the UK as people are becoming more environmentally aware.
The report by the bank shows that expenditure on green products and service topped a massive £6.4 billion in 2008, but still only accounts for less than 1% of household spend. Figures however are showing a steady rise, with a 5% increase on previous years.
