Opus Energy has been shortlisted for the Utility of the Year award at next month’s European Smart Metering Awards. The award goes to companies showing fresh ideas or market-leading behaviour.
The European Smart Metering Awards, run by Oliver Kinross, aims to showcase excellence in the energy industry and will acknowledge those that are playing a defining role in moving the industry forward.
Results will be decided by a panel of judges, and announced at a gala awards dinner at the Lancaster Hotel, London on 26 January.
Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director, commented:
“We’re very pleased to be nominated for this award and feel it is deserved recognition for the success and progress we have achieved this year.
“In the last year we have launched Opus Renewables, which seeks to engage with small to medium-sized renewable power generators and purchase their excess power. The aim is to increase the amount of renewable and cleaner electricity supplied to our customers. We’ve rolled out our free smart meters initiative to thousands more sites and have also seen a growth in our flexible purchasing products: Opus Extra and Evolution.
“Innovative new products, low prices and high standards of customer care have always been at the centre of what we do. With high rates of growth through recession and now this nomination, I’m glad that both our customers and industry colleagues are recognizing our achievements.”
