What is Opus Evolution?
- A web-based flexible purchasing solution for the multi site commercial market.
- Opus Energy customers can choose the length of their contract. They then have the ability to request energy purchases at any time throughout the period of the contract, providing the amount of energy forecast has been purchased one month ahead.
Will I need extra software added to my computer to use Opus Evolution?
No, Opus Evolution is a web-based solution developed by Opus Energy. It is a secure, password protected website which means that you can access the solution at a time and location which is convenient to you.
How does Opus Evolution work?
- The Opus Evolution online interface will display the indicative market price of the current wholesale electricity cost.
- Using this information, a user can request to fix the price and an amount of energy as and when they choose, provided the total energy required is purchased prior to the month of supply.
- Fixing the price can take place once the contract is agreed and during the period of supply, once again, as long as the total energy required is purchased one month ahead.
What are the payment terms of Opus Evolution?
- All Opus Evolution customers are billed monthly in arrears.
- Opus Evolution is offered on a standard 14 day payment term.
- Opus Corporate Solutions is able to tailor payment terms to individual customers and we would encourage customers to contact us to discuss.
Will Opus Energy advise me on the best time to purchase my electricity?
At no point is Opus Energy able to give advice on the timing of purchases. This decision remains solely with the customer and therefore the customer or their representative will be making the purchasing decisions.
What are the benefits of Opus Evolution?
- Access to current electricity market prices and clear visibility of the wholesale market.

- Multiple contracts can be aligned to one fixed end date by purchasing one month ahead, which can avoid going onto more expensive out-of-contract rates.
- Customers can continue to buy one month ahead at the end of fixed term agreement to avoid going onto out-of-contract rates.
- Opus Energy has a free Smart Metering offer that may improve the accuracy of forecasting, billing and efficiency of each tariff.
Does free really mean free with Opus Energy Limited’s free smart metering offer?
- Any business with a profile class of 3 and over can have smart metering installed for free.
- Any profile 1 or 2 meters, or a meter with consumption of less than 12,000 KWh will have a cost that can be agreed at start of the contract with Opus Energy.
- Each customer will have an installation meeting with the Opus Energy smart metering provider to mitigate the risk of incurring any abortive visit charges.
Can Opus Corporate Solutions inform me if the price of electricity will rise in the future?
No - at no point will Opus Energy provide advice or information with regards to the future of the electricity market. The cost of electricity may go up as well as down.
What customers qualify for Opus Evolution?
- A business customer with 20 or more commercial sites.
- A customer who wishes to move away from the traditional fixed price or fixed term tenders to a more flexible solution that Opus Evolution provides.
Does Opus Energy provide any market information to help me decide when to purchase electricity?
- Opus Evolution displays indicative market prices for customers to use as a guide for their purchasing strategy.
- The purchasing of energy is the responsibility of the customer. Opus Energy will not provide any advice on when to request a price.
Can I get a demonstration of Opus Evolution?
Do I have to consume over a certain amount of electricity to be eligible for Opus Evolution?
Although there are no minimum volumes,
Opus Evolution is better suited to those customers consuming over 5,000 MWh.
Will Opus Corporate Solutions provide training on how to operate the Opus Evolution system?
- Opus Corporate Solutions provides a dedicated Product Account Manager to support each customer throughout the duration of an Opus Evolution contract.
- The Product Account Manager is happy to arrange face-to-face training and ongoing support for any Opus Evolution training needs.
- Opus Energy encourages customers to provide user experience feedback to further enhance the functionality of the service and meet customer requirements.
How many other customers use Opus Evolution?

What online system support does Opus Energy offer?
- Each customer has access to a personalised consumption forecast and indicative market prices to aid decision making on purchases.
- Opus Evolution contains a full reporting suite for all customers to support any purchases that have been made.
- An in depth glossary is included to define any industry terms customers may not be familiar with.
- Customers can request any report that would be beneficial to use.
How long does it take for Opus Energy to set me up on the Opus Evolution online system?
Once all contractual paperwork has been completed, customers can be given access to
Opus Evolution within 5 working days.
Do you offer renewable sourced electricity with Opus Evolution?
- Opus Energy endeavours to source as much of its energy as possible from cleaner sources.
- Using cleaner energy is offset against Climate Change Levy making it a cost neutral choice for our customers.
Do you offer smart metering with Opus Evolution?

What is the maximum amount of electricity I can purchase with Opus Evolution?
Customers can purchase up to 100% of their expected electricity consumption.
